The HIV Virus affecting the life of many children in Nicaragua

In the garbage dumpsite of Nicaragua there are needles infected with HIV+ Those needles are thrown in the garbage without proper disposal measures. In the garbage many times healthy children has been infected with HIV. This is one of the tragic realities that children and their families live inside the garbage. Recently, Christ for the Poor sponsored an activity at La Mascota Hospital in Managua for all children infected with HIV. CFP brought medicines for 105 children that suffer the disease and after seeing the joy and hope of so many innocent faces the organization decided to sponsor the activity for long time as well to provide the medicines for all the kids monthly. But, there is a very sad situation going on. It is that these kids does not have a room to have done their monthly treatment. When they go to the hospital they received the treatment standing or seated. CFP was asked to help the hospital by building a center to administer the treatment to the children in a safe and healthy environment. If you feel compelled to know more about this story and want to cooperate. Please log in to: www.christforthepoor.org. There you can familiarize with all the work CFP does in NIcaragua.

I've seen the needles while working with youth at La Chureca. Many of them, all scattered about amidst the mountains of garbage stacked to the sky. People from the western countries can't even begin to imagine the environment at La Chureca. I am grateful for the workers like you, who go into the dump to try to make a difference in the lives of young people who have little hope for an improved tomorrow. Bless you, Alex!

ECO KUDOS

With both acknowledged and possible calamities as compelling and urgent
catalysts, Raincoast Conservation is advocating for British Columbia's first fully protected salmon runs. The move is an effort to save the grizzly bear species.

This bold and ambitious proposal runs contrary to the historical underpinnings of salmon management, as fisheries managers have always assumed that salmon exist exclusively for human consumption.

According to Raincoast, it is a matter of competition, and the odds are stacked against carnivores in these coastal salmon forests.
