When I'm tormented by knowledge of bile farms and families eating out of a waste dump, I come to this group for inspiration and hope. How nice to see my friends here and the reflection of your love.

surely I send you love and light, to all those living in the ugliness of poverty and bringing beauty and light in the midst...here it is winter cold and grey, barren beauty in the silhouettes of naked trees against the wind torn sky - May the goodness offer some solace to the suffering and may love continue the healing of our world, people, creatures...every act of kindness affects us all...

I come to Earth Prayers often for solace and comfort. Sometimes several times a day, depending on the trauma I've experienced while walking the streets, working with kids in the dump and riding on the take-your-life-in-your-hands buses and taxis. I read and re-read all of your postings and am so grateful for your outpouring of love and compassion. Living in the western hemisphere's second poorest country is a daily challenge, actually a minute-by-minute challenge. It isn't easy finding peace in a city where signs of violence, starvation and Earth abuse are paramount. I know my friends are on this network and in this group and I come here to catch your embraces and absorb words of wisdom. I have had some epiphanies from some of your words, and breakthroughs to blockages that now help me cope on new levels of awareness. So keep on inspiring me and each other, if that's not too much to ask. I also find the diversity of these Earth Prayers to be beautiful. I just love the difference and the sameness within each of us.

So much love to you all!

Today I am offering up my deepest gratitude for a most excellent answer to my prayer posted here recently. In the midst of what headlines heralded as "California's Worst Drought Ever," last night came an extraordinarily beautiful storm. A foot of cold and exquisite powder blanketed the Sierra Crest last night. What a fun day it was today and much joy lifted from many hearts to the heavens.

And many thanks to everyone who posts here, who hold the space and gave me the opportunity to offer my prayer here. May everyone have their clearly named intention come to be just for the naming of it. Today I am celebrating the arrival of blessings for all who have asked.

Frozen water falls from the sky
Only my eyes move
along waves of whiteness adrift in random swirls
the hushing sound of winter air.
And the openings inside my head form a big question,
chasms of images and memory.
In still point.

With my eyes squinted, my rooftop appears to have a mustache of whipped cream.
And I wonder...
why was it snow?

Serene silent nights sliding
through the reversed Full Moon world
trees are dark sentry across the brilliant landscape
they grow seamlessly into the night sky
so cold and clear
a place to aim a glide that believes that it could
go on forever.

An interior screen behind my thinking
plays memories of flying with feet attached to my board.
In the realm of body and mountainfolds flowing as one
thought is distant, there is very little beyond feeling.
Yes, let snow grace the Sierras for a very long time. Please.
‘Cause if it will,
I will always marvel at how such tiny six-sided beings
can generate so much of a heartburst.
If only soldiers could have known.

If only every child just arrived on Earth could know
from part of the “Hitchhiker’s Guide” that never got published,
about the power of a thing that lives for less than a flash in Earth time.
If only every person drowning in debt could know
if only every injured limb and organ, the homeless, the starving
every broken heart
could know the immense power of a hexagon so tiny that it takes magnification
to see it’s dainty frozen lace design.
But there isn’t a microscope powerful enough to detect the transformative shazaaam!
such a tiny being has in force
with so many other dinky little hexes when they get squished
by my board rushing past and I am a joy missile bombing by.
If only warmakers had this. Instead.

Now I know why the snow
was what brought tears to my eyes
and an exploding heart
when the healer who reached into my mouth
and sang to the butterfly who lives up there,
together, they flung me skyward.

I am thinking of my friend in Managua who prays for an answer to heal the violence of abject poverty. Sometime shortly before I read her prayer, I experienced a powerful healing through my exploration into craniosacral work. At first, I didn't understand the feelings I had together, of a broken heart and snow. I knew there was something important to look at in there, so I did. I looked, and this is the prayer I found so I wrote it down.
May all beings experience love in the power of the immensely tiny...

I Have Come Into This World to See This by Muhammad Hafiz

I have come into this world to see this:
the sword drop from men’s hands even at the height
of their arc of anger

because we have finally realized there is just one flesh to wound

I have come into this world to see this: all creatures hold hands as
we pass through this miraculous existence we share on the way
to even a greater being of soul,

A being of just ecstatic light, forever entwined and at play
with God.

I have come into this world to hear this:

every song the earth has sung since it was conceived in
the Divine’s womb and began spinning from
God’s wish,

every song by wing and fin and hoof,
every song by hill and field and tree and woman and child,
every song of stream and rock,

every song of tool and lyre and flute,
every song of gold and emerald
and fire,

every song the heart should cry with magnificent dignity
to know itself as
God;

for all other knowledge will leave us again in want and aching -
only imbibing the glorious Sun
will complete us.

I have come into the world to experience this:

men and women so true to love
they would rather die before speaking
an unkind
word,

men and women so true their lives are God’s covenant -
the promise of
hope.

I have come into this world to see this:
the sword drop from men’s hands
even at the height of
their arc of
rage

because we have finally realized
there is just one flesh

we can wound.

I am away from my library where I might find many great words from the traditions laid down by this tumultuous epoch. So the words I offer here are the simple ones I begin each day with as I open my eyes. Maybe because I still resist "going to sleep" (an old childhood habit) and thus, rarely am I awake at night to say a prayer (but I know they are always there). So with these simple words, I begin to paint my day –

"I am so very blessed!"

and I look into my heart to see the wild rose that is blooming there. Each petal carries the face of the many beings who inspire my gratitude. I am radiating love to each face I see that morning. My big fat "THANKS!" like a supernova just exploding, the Universal Mind expands. A small line said in quiet before the eject button gets me out of bed. Before I start imagining all the things yet to be, for which I offer my thanks in advance.
Sounds simple-minded, I know. But since I emerged from near death 14 years ago, it has worked for me to have this morning prayer of realization and gratitude. With some thanks my heart is so full I want to cry, some days I am laughing before I am fully returned to my body. Even on the darkest of days, which there were many of in the beginning, this simple little practice is very powerful for me.

ECO KUDOS

The Indianapolis Prize is the largest individual monetary award for animal species conservation in the world and is given as an unrestricted gift to the chosen honoree by the Eli Lilly and Company Foundation.

The award is not designed to be a quiet, academic, scientist-focused event, but instead an energetic and spectacular celebration of conservation victories. The goal is to inspire the general public to start caring about conservation, and to place heroes, who live in tents in danger of both wild beasts and poachers, on the pedestal that we usually reserve for sports and entertainment stars.

The recent East Asian Seas (EAS) Congress held in Manila, Philippines, concluded with the signing of the Agreement Recognizing the Legal Personality of Partnerships in the Environmental Management for the Seas of East Asia. This Agreement creates a fully-fledged international body to work for sustainable development of the region’s coastal and marine areas.

With both acknowledged and possible calamities as compelling and urgent
catalysts, Raincoast Conservation is advocating for British Columbia's first fully protected salmon runs. The move is an effort to save the grizzly bear species.

This bold and ambitious proposal runs contrary to the historical underpinnings of salmon management, as fisheries managers have always assumed that salmon exist exclusively for human consumption.

According to Raincoast, it is a matter of competition, and the odds are stacked against carnivores in these coastal salmon forests.

TAKE ACTION!

Become part of the Backyard Revolution and landscape for wildlife.

Replace your lawn with native shrubs, flowers and trees. Plant a butterfly garden, and put in a pond. You'll benefit from the beauty and tranquility of your yard, and wildlife will benefit from the food and water sources that you provide.

Need some guidance? Read the book Bringing Nature Home.

Half of all animal species will be extinct in our lifetime, unless emissions peak by 2020. Cut greenhouse gas emissions by reducing your energy consumption, learning more about climate change and getting active in community efforts to heal the Earth. Become part of the solution.
