The biggest issue for Canadians at the moment is the threat to the Navigatable Waterways Protectiobn Act. The romoaval of the enviromental protections brought into play by the NWPA will cause huge consequences to our waterways in the near future. Please visit www.waterkeeper.ca and www.ispeakforcanadianrivers.com and inform yourselves as to what could happen in the Very near future.

After reading the story on bear bile farming, some ecopaparazzi members have taken action, and I wanted to share the news.

Maryse bought the book Freedom Moon to share with children in Japan, where the Moon Bear also lives.

Chris is developing a strategy for getting the Canadian media to run a story and figuring out a way to reach the Chinese market segment in her community to make them aware of bear bile farming.

Camila is presenting bear bile info to her TCM healing community and asking the healing community to help end bear bile farming. She is also writing letters to key people and organizations to help end bear farming.

Several ecopaparazzi members said they would run the story on their other social networks and link back to ecopaparazzi.

I created a permanent site for the bear bile story so people have a reference point as we continue discussing and strategizing ways to end this horrible practice.

In addition, GreenMuze ran my story on bear bile farming on its main page.

To each of you, I say thank you for taking action after reading the story. We can all make a difference!

I have an idea for saving the world. Let's cross pollinate across all eco and peace social networks. If each of us joined every green/peace site, then we could begin to pull people together by the tens of thousands to coalesce ideas and plan Earth Healing and World Peace projects and activities together. So far I'm on 10 peace networks and about 50 green social networks, including the one I created, called ecopaparazzi. It would be incredible if we all joined forces across all of these like-minded websites and really began working together to take action. There is strength in numbers -- all we have to do is join together in support and solidarity and work together! Does anybody else think we could make a difference by banning together to make a huge impact on conservation and world peace? What better time to start than now? There's no time like the present for taking action!

One thing we can all do to promote our causes and rally others behind them is to put on our personal profile page badges, petition drive buttons, logos, hyperlinks, click here to save the world buttons, anything you've got that will heighten awareness about our cause and help the rest of us help you save the natural treasures of your bioregion. So feel free to design your personal page however you want to, including anything that promotes your environmental cause and links us to it. When our personal pages start getting real exciting and dynamic members will be stopping in to visit us (like any good neighbor would) to see how they can help us achieve our goals. I'm getting ready to add click here buttons for my favorite Save a Charity activity. Like click here to save the rainforest, click here to end poverty, etc. Lady Venus is the one who inspired me when I visited her page this morning and saw all those Save the World buttons. So anyway, use your imagination and think about what you can do on your page to tell us about your environmental causes and lead us to action to help you.

I'll try and contact the farmer but he's really difficult to catch. The story is that the breed of sheep he farms are a long established breed and they have evolved to tolerate if not thrive on English moorland weather - really cold winters. Our recent winters have been warmer and wetter and this has affected their breeding. Farmers also seem to notice these changes before everyone else, I guess because on a day to day basis they are working with nature. I would think farmers in Costa Rica will be noticing equivalent impacts.

There is always a tremendous impact, which often leads to direct action, when we can bring issues straight to the heart through local connections. People are also called to action when an issue affects their bottom line -- money, like the grass cutting issue. I would like to know more from the farmer with the sheep. I'm wondering if this story has been told yet. If so, we could link to it. If not, maybe a short interview with him or some quotes would be possible. What do you think?

I'm always fascinated in day to day stories about the environment. For some inn the UK polar bears can seem so far away and the rain forest something seen on the TV. I was talking to a farmer who's breed of sheep are struggling with climate change and local councils who are having to pay more for grass cutting because grass is now growing all season long. If we can show that all these impacts from melting ice caps to sheep on the sheep moors of Durham are connected we may progress opinion even further.
