Hi Julie -
I would love to read a blog from you at ecopaparazzi about the Rare Species Conservation Centre. Can you tell us about it and link us to the site so we can see photos and learn more?

Hey Julie -
I just saw this news article about your half-marathon to raise money for sun bear conservation. You rock!!!! How cool that you wore the T-shirt for the Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Center.

Front page of the London Metro after winning a medal in the Half Marathon where she proudly wore BSBCC T-shirt and successfully raised £500.

Hi Julie -
I know what you mean about the photos. I'm always on the other side of the camera too and only have a few shots of myself. But send what you can and we'll get you on the other site with your blog. Can you send a memo out to everyone on Wong's facebook for Sun Bear conservation and invite them to join ecopaparazzi to help bring more awareness to Wong and his work here? We need lots of folks to bring their voice to the issue. I think your invitation would carry more weight than mine because you actually worked with Wong in Borneo. We need those folks to come over here and all design a page for sun bear conservation. That's what it will take to heighten the awareness. Page after page of sun bear conservation awareness. Can you help with that by inviting them to come over?

And let's get your page looking awesome too, with sun bear pictures, orangutans and other wildlife in need of our help! I can help you design the page if you need some assistance. It's exciting to have you here, another person motivated by wildlife conservation! There aren't enough of us, so let's pull in everybody who shares our passion and get some grant money rolling in for these eco causes! Thank you, Julie!!!

Bornean Sun Bear Conservation UK

Calling all conservationists and bear-lovers! I have recently started to raise funds for the conservation of sun bears in Borneo and to help with the money needed to build the new conservation centre in Sabah. We have set up an affliated UK charity supported by the charity in Borneo and would love to have more people to help raise awareness of the plight of the beautiful bears and, if possible help with fund-raising events. Please get in touch with me if you are interested in helping in any way-… Continue

ECO KUDOS

The Indianapolis Prize is the largest individual monetary award for animal species conservation in the world and is given as an unrestricted gift to the chosen honoree by the Eli Lilly and Company Foundation.

The award is not designed to be a quiet, academic, scientist-focused event, but instead an energetic and spectacular celebration of conservation victories. The goal is to inspire the general public to start caring about conservation, and to place heroes, who live in tents in danger of both wild beasts and poachers, on the pedestal that we usually reserve for sports and entertainment stars.

The recent East Asian Seas (EAS) Congress held in Manila, Philippines, concluded with the signing of the Agreement Recognizing the Legal Personality of Partnerships in the Environmental Management for the Seas of East Asia. This Agreement creates a fully-fledged international body to work for sustainable development of the region’s coastal and marine areas.

With both acknowledged and possible calamities as compelling and urgent
catalysts, Raincoast Conservation is advocating for British Columbia's first fully protected salmon runs. The move is an effort to save the grizzly bear species.

This bold and ambitious proposal runs contrary to the historical underpinnings of salmon management, as fisheries managers have always assumed that salmon exist exclusively for human consumption.

According to Raincoast, it is a matter of competition, and the odds are stacked against carnivores in these coastal salmon forests.

TAKE ACTION!

Become part of the Backyard Revolution and landscape for wildlife.

Replace your lawn with native shrubs, flowers and trees. Plant a butterfly garden, and put in a pond. You'll benefit from the beauty and tranquility of your yard, and wildlife will benefit from the food and water sources that you provide.

Need some guidance? Read the book Bringing Nature Home.

Half of all animal species will be extinct in our lifetime, unless emissions peak by 2020. Cut greenhouse gas emissions by reducing your energy consumption, learning more about climate change and getting active in community efforts to heal the Earth. Become part of the solution.

Feed the hungry.
Save indigenous people.
Stand up for workers' rights.

Be kind to animals.
Stop factory farms.
Save 100 animals every year.

End deforestation for grazing.
Save an acre of trees.
End grazing on public lands.

Tell USDA 'Wildlife Services'
to stop killing wildlife for
corporate ranchers' profits.

Stop wars for resources.
Help end corporate rule.
Live your conscience.

Save our oceans.
Stop the #1 polluter of water.
Support a sustainable planet.

Think outside yourself.
Live compassionately.
Stop the violence.
