That's really messed up! I know the show but I haven't seen that episode. I'm always disturbed when these so called "educational" channels air shows like that. What message is the channel sending? That it's OK to do that?

Hi Madeliene - what a great idea for NY and the folks there - I'm in the midwest, but appreciate your reaching out...I was very distrressed on MOnday when I took our granddaughter to the zoo and watched a grizzly bear pacing, restless, very unhappy despite a waterfall and rocks, a fairly large space. What a relief to see the black bear in the next area very peacefully munching...a good lesson for the 3 year old, and me too...wild animals should be free!

Hello Madeleine,

Thanks, but can't make it -- I'm now living in Costa Rica for the year. Just met an Australian woman who was working on a project with Tigers in Laos. If interested, I'll put you in contact.
Best,
Austin

HI Madeleine -
It's great to see you here. This is a good place to blog about your efforts to assist Animals Asia. And feel free to search the members at ecopaparazzi for folks living in New York who might want to join your actions. Don't hesitate to call on me if you need anything. Welcome!

ECO KUDOS

With both acknowledged and possible calamities as compelling and urgent
catalysts, Raincoast Conservation is advocating for British Columbia's first fully protected salmon runs. The move is an effort to save the grizzly bear species.

This bold and ambitious proposal runs contrary to the historical underpinnings of salmon management, as fisheries managers have always assumed that salmon exist exclusively for human consumption.

According to Raincoast, it is a matter of competition, and the odds are stacked against carnivores in these coastal salmon forests.
